This Wednesday, June 2, Radamel Falcao García, "El Tigre," announced that he will no longer play for the Bogotá-based club Club Deportivo Los Millonarios.

"Dreams come true, and I managed to achieve mine. The dream I had as a child came true, and I was able to wear these colors. Today, I only have words of gratitude for each and every one of you, for your support, your backing, and for being there every match, " the Bogotá-born footballer said in a heartfelt message. " As long as I could, I left my life, soul, and heart in every game, every play, every minute... And that's what I'm taking with me , I'm also taking with me every word of encouragement, every chant from the stands, and these colors tattooed on my soul," he added in an Instagram post, which quickly filled with thousands of likes and hundreds of comments.

"Millosfco official, directors, coaching staff, teammates, fans and everyone who does their silent work at the club, thank you for so much... You can be sure that there will always be a bond that unites us, from whatever position I may be, I will always have a connection with the Club and with the fans. We all go together... And don't forget... ALWAYS, ALWAYS Millonarios!" the beloved athlete emphasized.

Millonarios' farewell

For its part, the Club issued an official statement stating: " Millonarios informs that Radamel Falcao García has decided not to continue playing for the Club. Everyone's hopes and Tigre's dreams have come true. Thank you, Radamel, for wearing our colors and giving everything for our crest. Thank you for allowing our history to have another chapter of glory in which the greatest legend of Colombian football was part of our institution ." " Radamel 'El Tigre' Falcao was, is, and will continue to be our ambassador ," stated the Club, which gave Bogotá fans great joy after signing the renowned athlete.

It's worth mentioning that the footballer—who has played for various teams in Europe and other Latin American countries —arrived in Colombia exactly one year ago; after the first half of the year, there was much doubt about whether he would continue for another season in the first part of 2025, but it was finally agreed.

And although "El Tigre" Falcao didn't manage to earn his 14th star with his childhood dream team, he did leave the blue fans with great joy. Likewise, in the recent capital derby against Santa Fe, where they were defeated and the red team advanced to the final, the Bogotá-born footballer didn't hide his annoyance with the VAR refereeing.

On the other hand, a club source told EL TIEMPO that 'El Tigre' made the decision not to continue: " We suggested he stay for six more months. He decided not to continue. The financial situation was settled, as was the tax situation. It was his decision ."
